CST6118 Overview:

CST6118 is a single channel brushed DC motor drive chip. The maximum continuous output current can reach 1.8A, and the peak value can reach 2.5A. CST6118 built-in power MOS full bridge drive, can drive forward, backward, stop and brake functions, while built-in overtemperature protection circuit, to ensure the safety of the chip operation.
The full bridge drive architecture and drive mode can save peripheral filter circuit, save cost and facilitate application. Very small circuit static power consumption (less than 1uA), low on-resistance (0.4Ω/1000mA), wide operating voltage operating voltage range (1.5V~7.2V), can make the CST6118 more widely used.
The CST6118 is available in a SOP8 package.

Note:

1. The C4/104P capacitor in the figure is connected in parallel to the motor rather than placed on the PCB. If the motor is not connected in parallel, a position can be reserved on the PCB.。

2. Compared to the general application of similar products in the market, C1, C2, and C3 in the figure can be omitted, reducing peripheral devices and saving costs.

CST6107 is a single channel brushed DC motor driver chip. The maximum continuous output current can reach 1.8A, and the peak value can reach 2.5A. The chip is equipped with a power MOS full bridge driver, which can drive forward, backward, stop, and brake functions. At the same time, it is also equipped with an over temperature protection circuit to ensure the safety of the chip operation.

CST6107Special precautions:

In different applications, C1 and C2 can be considered for only one: for 4.5V applications, it is recommended to use a 1uF or higher surface mount capacitor; In 6V applications, it is recommended to use a large capacitor 220uF+100nF surface mount capacitor; C1 and C2 should be placed close to the VDD pin of the IC, and the connection between the negative terminal of the capacitor and the GND terminal of the IC should also be as short as possible. Even though the capacitors are close, the wiring and routing are far apart. When there is a large capacitor on the application board filtering other chips and it is far away from CST6107, another small capacitor needs to be placed on the VDD pin of CST6107 according to the above requirements. The C4 (100nF) capacitor in the figure is preferentially connected to the motor. When it is inconvenient to solder this capacitor to the motor, it is placed on the PCB (i.e. C3).

The general low-voltage application of CST6107 can eliminate the C1, C2, and C3 capacitors. If the power supply fluctuates greatly or the output driving current is large, it is recommended to add capacitors C2 and C3. You can choose according to the actual situation.
CST6107 is sensitive to static electricity. Anti static measures need to be taken during packaging, transportation, processing, and other processes.
It is recommended that the current value at the moment of motor start-up should not exceed the peak value of 2.5A of the chip.
The peak current of motor stalling varies depending on the motor, and if the peak current of motor stalling is too high, it may burn out the IC.
